I expect this has been covered elsewhere but now spring is upon us I want to switch off my DRLs. I've tried the tactic in manual about pushing indicator stalk down an back but to no avail. I suspect I'm not doing it quite right, it's the bit about switching ignition on and off that confused me.
Spoke to local service dept who told me can only be done with VagCom computer ?
Help and guidance required please !

I turned mine off in the DIS under settings
-
Ok I'll take another look in the DIS - any hint as to which menu as Ive never spotted that option before.
-
I don't have the manual to hand at the moment, the instructions do work though as I've done it.
Make sure the lights are set to off and not auto when doing it.

It will depend on the model and year of your motor and whether you have Xenons?
To turn them off.
Do a left hand turn with the indicators and pull back on the stalk to flash the headlamps then turn the ignition on you should hear a couple of bleeps then they are off.
To turn them on.
Do a right hand turn with the indicators and pull back on the stalk to flash the headlamps then turn the ignition on you should hear a couple of bleeps then they are on.
This works on mine.
I believe this feature has been disabled on 2011 models.
Xenons need VCDS.

As above mate,
Ignition off.
Light switch set to off.
Hold indicator stalk down (left turn) and back (flash).
Turn ignition on while holding (don't start).
A single "bong" confirms deactivation.
To turn them back on, as above but stalk up (right turn)

If you have xenons
How to turn off the DRL when you have front xenons+rear lights+number plate lights as DRL's
You need vagcom or VCDS or similar
Central electric---coding---> long code helper
Byte 11 (Prob shown as hex 88) select it
A box below will come up
A tick box next to 'Daytime running lights via low beam' will be ticked. Untick it. click back, click 'do it'.
Your DRL (front xenons+rear lights+number plate lights) will now go out.
