Hi Guys,
I have a mk2
I have recently had to re run phono leads down the side of my car due to the sub bouncing around and ruining my old phone leads.
How have you held your sub down? i used velcro stips on my old car but in the gold the lining is carpet and the sub/amp is fluffy so that wont work.. all ideas welcome.
Cheers

You should still be able to use velcro strips to stop the sub moving. Trim some of the fluff off.
-
I used to use bungee cords until I made a boot build.

Hmmmm this is the sub/amp i have, cant really trim the fluff off tbh. I may try some bungee cords unless anyone has other ideas

get the velcro strips on the box drill a little hone 1 or 2 2 would be better, and screw the velco down therefore it will stick and wont move :nerd:
-
Ahh yes! like it, i'll go halfords later and get some velcro.
Nice one mate.
-
did it work?
-
As he was going to Halfords, I think the loose sub hit him on the back of the head and killed him.....
-
Yea i went into halfords under cover just incase i was spotted
Yea got some velcro on the bottom of the sub and it sits very nicely now so i can go round right hand bends without worrying my phono leads will smash into the side of the sub.

i used to use bungee style old school bonnet pin thingys on mine... the ones that stop the bonnet flying open on old minis, used to work a treat! ..... i'll try find a pic.
here you go,

The only safe way to secure a sub box is to screw it down properly. Velcro won't atop it flying through the rear seats in a crash.
-
Exacty. Watch crash tests and read about the forces involved do you really think a box of ~2 stone will be held down well with velco?
-
I have also seen some very scary videos.
Best way would be to make a false floor mount that to the boot floor then mount the box to the floor.
The safest way imo

The only way. My sub and box weigh 70kgs. That's no different than a person in the back not strapped in.

I have seen the mess MDF makes with the forces too. It cannot handle the G and often splits when used as false floors and supports. So any mounting hardware now is steel or ally for me. With proper bolted mountings.
