Hi All
I have had my GTI since new April 08 and have been really happy with it and so far no problems!
Anyway I have been contacted about if I wish to take out the extended warranty. The best deal seems to be over 3 years as it is just under £800, but it is still a lot of money....
The question is, is it worth it?? What do you guys think? Anyone with strong feelings either way please let me know to help me make up my mind!
Thanks

do you think ur going to spend 800 on repairs?? what can go so wrong.

I do hope not, but it was really if I have a problem with the DSG gearbox or ECU but I agree it is a lot of money.
From what I have seen there aren't thousands of posts on here about mechanical failure of the GTI's so.... fingers crossed?!

I considered the extended warranty. But its just too much money. Cars pretty expensive to run anyway, so paying extra for warranty wasn't really affordable for me!

My car is now 4.5 years old (had it from approx 6 months old). I've taken out the AA parts and labour warranty for £72 as a sort of warranty on the car. If it breaks down and the AA can't fix you an claim up to £500 towards the repair cost.
The RAC have a similar product with a £2k claim limit but it excludes dual mass flywheels so I went with the AA.
It's not a full warranty but will help cover any big bills.
