What can you suggest for new headlight bulbs without upgrading the loom?

To get the best from the lights an upgraded loom is worthwhile.  As for bulbs try Ring 100% Max or Osram Nightbreakers.

meh, just upgrade the loom, it's not that hard especially since there are kits ready made out there these days and it's well worth it!

You'll get more of a gain from 30quid on an uprated loom with your standard bulbs than you will on 30 quids worth of bulbs on standard wiring..

Put both together and bingo....

Nightbreaker bulbs are only around a Tenner.... Mind and buy a good loom not a cheap one off ebay or contact RJ about his looms...

the difference between 9v and 12v at the headlights is VERY noticable. buy or make an upgraded loom, end of!

Check your output voltage 1st.. But I bet you are only getting 9V at the bulb...

The good news is you don't need to rip anything out, you're just adding better wiring to power the lights and using the existing loom as a trigger.
