Title: G60 injectors
Post by: martinb on 16 March 2005, 17:01
hi does anyone know if g60 injectors are any different to standard 8v gti ones and if they will work on my standard management?
my car is a 91 8v gti that has had a turbo conversion, its running a turbo from a 306 turbo dsl. The car runs fine but suffers from fuel starvation under full throttle, i have tried adding extra injectors (currently running two extra) which has helped but have been told the injectors really need uprating.
Someone suggested he g60 ones as they will supply more fuel and should be a direct replacement but i want to be sure before i go and buy some.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated as i want to sort it in time for the sprints at inters!!

not 100% sure. but the g60 ones do deliver more fuel, cant remember what rate they work at and as the g60 is basiclly a digifant they will fit. you'll probably have to uprate your fuel pump to supply the injectors with enough fuel.

I think your fuel pump should be ok, the engine may run a bit rich as the ecu fuelling map will be for the smaller injectors and when you fit the G60 ones the ecu will pulse the injectors the same pulse width and the larger injector will inject more fuel. You may need a custom chip or go the hole hog and fit the G60 injection set up, ecu map sensor, etc. And then you will have a fuel and ign system that is boost sensitive.
Steve.

Cheers steve, really helpfull. Im not that mechanically minded and took the car over from someone who had already done most of the work and was a bit vague on the details. Just been looking at the pictures of your engine, did u do all that yourself?? much tidier job than mine is! Will let ya know how i get on.

thanks
