run a 170 v5 on 150 v5 ecu?
just wondering as noticed the 170 v5 lumps are quite cheap £500-800 which wouldnt be a bad investment tbh for a extra 20 horses but is it possible to just hoist my 150 lump out of the bora and drop the 170 in and remap my ecu?? or do i need the 170 clocks ecu ect?

Might be wrong but I think you need the matching 170bhp ecu.
Std ecu will not release 20bhp.
£500 to £800 seems a lot of money for 20bhp

depends how you look at it, you can spend 500 to 800 on a turbo on some other cars that will only allow you to gain more power with other mods, yet on other cars you could spend the same amount and gain more power, also some people would spend more on a set of rims, tbh im just throwing ideas around on waht im going to do with the bora, really dont want to sell her as love the noise and the way the v5 pulls but wouldnt mind a 170 without the silly tax that goes with post 2001 cars.
was hoping that it might just be a plug and play weekend swap wasnt sure if the custom map would be the same on the ecu and it was just the heads that where different due to the 20v

To get it and running all ok, you would be better to fit the engine / loom and matching ecu.

Strap a supercharger to it
