				Guys could you pos advise...

I've been looking at fitting a Cat 1 alarm and immobilizer to the car, I feel more than capable of fitting it myself but would this affect the insurance in anyway? I.e. can I just say I have fitted the alarm or does it have to be professionally fitted in order to be verified?

Roughly what are the differences in insurance discount between a DIY and professionally fitted alarm (if any)?

Reason I ask is that it’s very expensive to get the alarm professionally fitted so if the insurance saving aren’t that great I’ll just buy the alarm and fit it myself.

 Thanks

Some insurers will ask for a certificate or not cover you at all.

My insurance require me to show my certificate to get the discount and this has to be issued by a vsib qualified installer

Some insurance co's wont offer a discount for one instead they simply won't cover you!! or will exclude theft claims

Right, ok.....so professional fitting it is then.....

 Cheers for the replys guys.
