Title: engine out white in the sump?
Post by: aaron1980 on 22 March 2011, 21:51
well today i decided that it was time to pull the engine out as i have been unable to find out where this rattle is coming from. anyway i got it out and turned it over to take the sump off. when i took the sump off there is quite alot of bright whight stuff (looks like the oil has turned white in places) its not water as the rest of the oil is fine it is just stuck to the sides of the sump. any ideas?

White stuff is when water mixes with oil and cooks for awhile (Emulsified oil and water)?
The facts are that you have a rattle and have white scum means there is a leak somewhere it might have pluged it self up when it went in, but could be heavy condensation if the car has been left for awhile undriven?
