Title: Ting noise when stop cranking
Post by: emery1990 on 22 March 2011, 18:41
When I stop cranking my car sometimes it makes a horrible ting sound, it sounds exactly the same as when having a disc cutter with a clutch on full then letting off the trigger, making a ting sound. Could my alternator fan be doing this? Or is something worse.

I did have re-fabricate my alternator bracket though

Is this on a Mk4?

I think there's a common problem with the starter motor making strange sounds with age. There's a guide somewhere in the Mk4 section regarding this issue.
