it supposedly the most desired colour, thats all! and only appeared on big bumper GTI's and small bumper anniversary models

there are rarer colours than oak green

anyhow Tornado Red is the new Oak Green!!

alot of people just like it (me included) and seem to make out that its some rare as hell colour but you see them all the time. i'm not saying they are as common as black or red or whatever but there are alot of them around.

they appeared on F plated 16vs. (non Campaigns). it was on the option list.

agreed that it isnt the rare colour now.

i'd say the torquoise blur was more rare actually ;)

You talking about Metallic Royal Blue, ummmmm, nice colour

Oak Green is nice, i suppose, but I have to agree with others that it's not that rare.

It's all down to personal taste in the end, I think mk2's look most modern in a dark metallic colour and I obviously like oak green. I was also looking for a mk2 in bright blue metallic (can't remember the paintcode but I read somewhere that only 500 came into this country) but I came to the conclusion that there weren't any 16v's made in that colour (you see a few G60's in it) so I would say that colour is pretty rare.
Then you've got stuff like calypso green (or was it capri green) and a couple of other shades of metallic blue which I can't remember the name of. You see far less cars in these colours but then that's probably coz they just weren't popular colours so nobody ordered that paintcode.

The oak green thing is a bit wierd really as the most popular colour for the mk1 was lhasa green which was quite similar.

It's just a nice classy colour that suits a standard Golf down to the ground. I always see them with the 15" RAs on and they always look the absolute b*ll*cks.

As said they aint particularly rare but they are sought after which keeps the price a tad higher than the rest.

it is a nice colour, but being me its not my favourite!!!

mt first golf was a lush light blue colour, dunno what colour it was and my last one was the red which isnt tornado red. . . . i think

if it is bright met blue then they did come in 16v guise as I test drove one back in the early 90s. i have a strange feeling they only appeared on pre 88 golfs though hence their rarity value.

I think the correct name for the turquoise metallic colour is Capri Blue or Capri Green, it's my favourite, although I have been told that my colour which is Stratos Blue Metallic is quite rare.?

Man, that site made me slightly envious. I spent over a year trying to find a good Royal Blue 16V but I had no luck and had to go with an oak green eventually. I still think the Royal Blue is definitely the best colour and in my experience alot rarer.
Great site btw.

Tobz and everyone.

Hi, I got my second Mk2 8v in december - Royal Blue! (the first one was years ago, im old!).

Anyway, I just thought I would de-lurk to tell TOBZ that I pass a MINT looking light metalic (Monza?) blue, big bumper 16v everyday on my comute. Like you I think its a bit of a rare colour? I know where she's parked, and I've been tempted to put a piece of paper on it offering to buy it myself! Or maybe I should put one on there for ya! I live in the Thames Valley.

Cheers.

By the way, look at this link for paint codes, colours, seat trim Vs models years etc http://www.btinternet.com/~john.wintle2/article/Paint_Fabric/gticolours.html

Hey organisys

Good link that, just had a quick look, the blue I was after is listed as bright blue (C3) they have it listed as an option on 8v's and not listed at all for a 16v. Monza blue is also very nice, quite a bit more green though (perhaps that means I should like it more). Cheers for the offer of the note but thankfully I found the mk2 I was looking for, however my other half took a liking to bright metallic blue during my search and now I've got to search out a mk2 8v in it for her next year............d'oh another 'rare' golf search!!!

Must admit, I saw a Tornado red with polished ATS Cups on it recently, and that looked really nice.
