Title: golf mk4 weight loss thread.. (EDITED)
Post by: jamie16v on 20 March 2011, 16:20: does anybody know or can anybody please measure the weight of the standard steely supplied as a spare on the GTI (205/50/r16).
i have been cosidering the two sets of alloys i have which are monty 2`s as standard and these aftermarket ones i have.
the problem i found is the aftermarket ones weigh about 10kg more per wheel. therefore another 40kg ontop of the vehicle kurb weight. my aim is to bring the weight of the car down as much as possible as a free tuning aid. with the power the car has it should be on par with the likes of others which i would like to blitz but i know where the biggest let down is, my car needs a diet..

ive noticed the doors weigh a lot compared to other cars too.

But looking it up its only 1.8t is only 1240KG? I'd say that's fair considering its size and solid feel,Mines prob a bit more due to the leather reacros/heated
