... the idling is all over the place. its sort of in a rhythm of dipping, then raising, then dipping etc. ive checked and re - checked all wiring/connections and checked over the coil wiring etc but cant seem to sort the problem. this has happened before when i last removed the battery, but it seemed to sort itself after a few minutes. this time has been well over 4 hrs. its a 2000 agu 1.8t. any ideas?

Mine did that after removing the battery, turned out to be a dirty throttle body.

cleaned up the throttle body, was caked in crap. turned it over afterwards and was idling perfectly. job done! many thanks for the advice!
