i am working on a mk2 golf project, have stripped all the under seal of the car and have fixed what ever patches there were. does anyone know what is the best stuff to re-under seal the car with. thanks

Waxoil

Don't use the Hammerite stuff you get in Halfords, it's sh!te IMO.
Dinitrol would be my weapon of choice. 3125 for all the box sections/cavities, 4941 for the underside (black stuff).

Yep :afro: they do a underseal and the thing is it stays flexible so will not crack and let water underneath.
-
do waxoyl do a brush on underseal like the black sutff ?? also how do you fill your sills and cavities etc with the stuff it confuses me ??

Yes waxoil do a brush on type underseal, to get sills etc done you need air fed equipment so it is best left to the pros.

waxoil also do a pump (with cavity lance) and aerosol can's of the stuff.....
It is messy but It's worked on all my mk3 sills (possibly the most common rusty vw bit ever!)

As wayne said, any box sections can be done by spraying stuff into them but the proper equiptment is needed

but what do the pros do drill a hole into your sill and box section and weld up afterwards ??

removeing the rubber plugs is far easyer

They drill holes and then fit grommets.

How it's done properly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcNP4INYEMI) Waxoyl........ Note how clean the car was before applied. Most of mine was done long ago and it shows, compared to other younger golfs I've had with nothing.

if everyone did this it would have saved sooo many classic cars!

worst job to ever do, ive done it with the pump and lance and that sh!t gets everywhere so have the good old blue garage roll handy to clean up bits you dont want to cover and try to mask areas aswell.

Ive found a company thats going to do my mk2 when its ready.. £480 inc vat.. 5 year guarantee.. that includes.. chassis legs.. full hard wax underseal.. inside skeleton of bonnet.. front and rear wings.. sills.. pretty much where ever rust can come through.. they also before using the stuff they have some steam cleaner to clean off flakey rust etc.. have a look for yourselves..
