Title: mfa not working
Post by: 01664gti on 16 March 2011, 19:28
Hi all, I have recently purchased a 90 spec gti,All is well and im really happy with it.The only thing that niggles is the MFA does not do anything. However you move the toggle on the stalk nothing happens.

Im not sure where to start with it so i was wondering if anyone has any ideas or common causes why it is u/s

Thanks in advance

Have you pressed the end of stalk rather than the toggle switch?

Does the clocks have MPG, Temp etc marked around the MFA display?

Sounds to me like someone has fitted a NON MFA unit with a rev counter...

You will have to do one of 2 things...

1, Take off the bottom cover of the stalk cover and see if the white 5 or 6 pin connector from the MFA stalk is connected

or

2, take the clocks out and check that they have the Vacuum unit in-between the rev counter & speedo... if they do make sure the Vacuum unit isn't broken but as I say I think someone has fitted the wrong clocks...

sounds liek stalk or wiring problem, where is the hazard switch dash or column? try pulling dash fuse for 30 seconds might kick it back into life

Fuse number 21 15A (second on the right) the interior light will probably go off as well.

Yay all fixed,It was a loose connection behind the cowling. On the downside i have managed to snap my hazard light switch part off my indicator stalk. What a cap end lol!!!

Anyone have a 90spec indicator stalk for sale??
