As title says...does anybody with a k04 setup what kind of mpg to expect average?
-
low lol with a turbo like that you WILL want to put your foot down.. if i booted my old 1.8t i would see low 20's some times less so with k04 running more BHP you would see low 20's maybe 15 or so.. depends on driving style and the map mate

+1, perhaps if fuel economy is an issue for you, maybe the turbo isnt a great idea although the power is more effortless with the bigger turbo so may be more efficient during normal driving..........

how i think is you dont go into Gordon ramseys restaurant and go bloody hell thats expensive

Ok guys cheers. Buying petrol wont be as issue as I run my own business but would p*ss me off filling up every 150 miles forever looking for a petrol station. Im still tempted.
-
thing is mate, if your that worried about mpg in 1st place, you would buy a diesel.
2nd that if u get a golf and ko4 it, obviously you will be driving it reasonably hard, otherwise its not worth the £600+ conversion?
IMO if you do spend enough to go through the ko4 conversion, bhp/torque figures will be your main priority, not mpg..
-
Maybe converted on a AGU or somthing my uncles BAM with k04 standard (cupra 225) is mapped to 265 and he gets 25mpg with his wife driving/school runs/ generally family car without regard to pertrol
I think it's fairly good for the power.Maybe due to the BAM being build for the k04? Dunno
-
BAM is still a 1.8t so you know, just runs lower compression pistons and 19mm wrist pins whereas the AGU run higher compression MAHLE pistons and 20mm wrist pins. In theory should see marginally better performance on the AGU because of the higher compression ratio, would be better torque delivery off boost.
-
higher compression for more low down torque but turbos usually run low compression so you get the power when your on boost (agu is a bit weird, but in a way that makes much more sense)
-
Well my 150 BHP AGU picks of rom 1500-1700rpm his more like 2500rpm but much much more dramatic and of course alot fast. with 265 bhp and around 265ft lbs not a surprise :D
Just a thougth as the AGU is alot older design( i know same basic engine) but I'm sure they update stuff all the time.I presume with the AGU VW realised it was over engineered for the power it was pushing.... So future engine codes where not as tuff
-
I've a K04 on an 1.8T AGU engine .... do between 20 - 35 mpg urban ..... obviously depending how I drive it. Got an average of 35mpg on a 300 mile round trip at the weekend to Ultimate Dubs. Car also has Revo Stage 1 remap, FMIC, Carbonio CAI so don't think that's too bad? :undecided:
-
you run k04 on revo stage 1 map ?? that should be custom mapped..
