Title: relay for uprated headlight loom

hey all ... i've had issues with the dipped headlights not working. tried a another wiper stalk to see if thats the cause but lights still not working with the replacement stalk. i'm now thinking it could be the relay ( no 53 ) of the uprated loom i bought from ebay a couple of years ago. i'm having problems sourcing this and wonder if i can use any other relay? i'm a tad useless at electrics so please bare with me!

53 relay is bog std vw switched relay, you can get them in all kinds of vag cars. have a look on your fusebox you may have one on there you can swap in to try. if it is a 53 relay then its pin compatible with most std automotive switched relays

Take the relay out and short across the terminals with a piece of wire.if the lights come on its the relay. If they still don't, test you get 12v on the trigger wire when switching to dipped, if you don't then the problem is further bk- ie from stalk/fuseboard to uprated relay..

i got some spare fused relays if needed
