Sounds like an interesting idea! Just a quick heads up, there is a typo on the home page:
A new tyre that is worn down to 3mm tread depth will not preform as well as a tire shaved down to 3mm tread depth.
I'm assuming that you mean perform rather than preform?
-
-
LOL :undecided: well spotted mate
Cheers

Dont meen to be a bum, but i find the righting pretty hard to read as its in bold, dont know if anybody else finds this also?
regards
james
-
The 'righting'?
-
The "writing" isnt in bold, but the font was a choice I wasnt too sure about, but to be honest I think its not that hard to read?
-
Oh god, how special do i feel now! "righting" i just noticed it haha then realised you had noticed it too! :embarassed: :embarassed:
Anyway! i found it pretty hard to focus on? maybe its just my eyes!
james
-
 Probably just your eyes lol
Il have a look into it, I wanted a font a little different and not just plain old boring text, but I suppose whatever I chose its not gona be to everybodies taste? :undecided:
-
I didn't find it that difficult to read tbh but i would agree its maybe not the best font to use - most use simple fonts as it is easier to read so you focus on content as opposed to the font etc which can distract from what you are selling. As can typos
At the end of the day the product will speak for itself though. Looks like yours is gonna be a place to offer repeatable setups.
Nice venture though and all the very best with it!
-
Yeah I agree on everybody's taste not being the same, try doing a poll on it? see what other people think as well.
I wish you the best of luck tho mate!

Thanks matey

Ive done testing on the machine today on a customers 13" x 10" slick that races F2 stock cars, and all went perfect! The machine took a 5mm cut straight across the tyre in around 40 seconds, the finish exceeded my expectations, I will try and upload a video and some pictures soon, but as above I am now open for business :-)
-
Sorry to seem slow... but i just dont get how taking 3mm off a tyre will make it last longer - as you are taking tread off the tryes arent you?? :undecided: :undecided:
-
Depends how you're using the tyre.
Shaving down on something like a T1-R would make it perform far better on track and probably 'temper' the rubber so it wouldn't roll off in huge sausages when the tyre got hot out on track,
-
it does the opposite of tempering them lol
-
Uh huh. Explain then, share with us numpties instead of just being an arrogant pr1ck, or would that be stretching your skilz too far?
-
well tempering is a heat treatment. wearing a tyre down with use puts multiple heat cycles through it and the performance deteriorates, shaving tyres avoids this and you have a fresh tyre with reduced tread depth.
the reduced tread depth then moves less and generates less heat in use so yeah quite the opposite
-
As he says ^^^

I have just ordered some new tooling to produce an even better finish, as a precision engineer I am constantly wanting to optimise quality! The finish now is good but I believe I can achieve better and make sure the tyre has a surface finish as good as it was before it was cut.
-
Well i have got 888's on my track car atm. they are part worn, so in your proffessional opinions shaving would improve the life time and performance of them?? :undecided:

Also, tyre is spelt tire on this line, instead of the english spelling - tyre.

I was at Donnington doing testing on the tyres last week with the help of Malcolm Edeson (Grade A ARDS with around 20 years of race driver instructing ) He rigged up one of the mx5 championship cars with all the data logging equipment and went out to prove what the benifits of shaving are. He his writing up a detailed report on his findings and I will put it up as soon as its done, the main thing he concluded with is that its worth about 1.5 seconds a lap!
