Title: Changing fuel filter

hi all,? i want to change the fuel filter this week, but i was wondering what i should use the clamp the pipes going in to it and where to get them from??

p.s has anyone got the part number for the ecu relay (97 gti 8v) as i want to change that as well

When i changed the fuel filter on my beetle the pipes where secured with jubliee clips

sorry i meant to stop the petrol flowing out while i'm changing the filter

Kink the pipe, or do the job over a bucket so any petrol leaked will be contained, and you can put it back in the tank afterwards!

KR1S77,

Remove your fuel pump replay (check location in your haynes manual), then turn on the car. It should stall/cut out after a few few seconds as no fuel will be pumped trough the system. This will remove the majority of the fuel from the fuel line and prevent all little big leak on your drive. Do it over a bucket just to be safe though 'cos there still may be a tiny bit left in.

thanks for the replies, haven't had chance to do it yet but i'll let you know how i get on ( how much petrol i loose? :laugh:)
