Morning all,
My mk5 has developed a creak noise in the drivers door, starting to get on my nerves.
Happens when I turn left or when moving from stationary to moving off, not everytime though.
Sounds like a plastic type creak, so I assume its the door card / switches or wires behind the door card.
1. Has anyone had this, more importantly solved it?
2. Is there a guide to taking the door card off to inspect myself or is this not advised?
-
Anyone?

I had the same thing. Was told it might be that the door needed adjusting. The garage just greased up the door hinges and that solved the problem for me!

cheers snooze,
THe sound is coming more from the door card I think though, sometimes sounds like a microswitch being clicked? Maybe something is a loose behind the door card.

When the door rubbers start to dry out they make a ticking noise.
Try using a rubber care product on the door rubbers.
Also check the sound is not coming from the decorative trim as the clips can sometimes tick.

Cheers Snoopy,
Any recomendations on rubber care / lube
I think its the trim ticking, exactly that, will I need to take the door apart?
I'm one step away from loosing my temper with it

Do try treating the door rubbers (I use Autoglym rubber or bumper care, sorry can't remember which and not at home) and polish the door frame they rub against.
I had a horrible creaking noise that I couldn't believe would be the door rubbers, but gave it a go and it disappeared!
Good luck.

Yes i use the autoglym stuff too rubber care i think its called in a squirty bottle with a yellow square label.
Theres better, the stuff VW use but its unreal expensive for a tiny little bottle.
As said above you prob don't believe its the rubber due to the noise but its a common problem effecting VW back to 1995. I have had problems with them all since then.
Hreasing the door hinge with white spray grease and also the door catch also helps sometimes if the door rubber lubbe does not cure the creak/tick.

Thanks for the info, I did lube the door hinges and catch this weekend.
I also gave the drives door card a good clean with a damp cloth, then an interior cleaner (poorboys)
...Still getting the ticking / creaking sound.
I will get some rubber lube and report back once I've hopefully cured it.
Thanks again.
