Title: New to Volkswagon

I was planning on purchasing a 20th anniversay GTi and was wondering how they perform.  I was wondering if thats the right choice if i plan on building the motor.  Any oppinions on what these things could do would appreciated, its one of these or a honda hatchback with a DOHC swap :) thankyou.

The 20th anniversary is a Mk3 (max 150bhp for the 16v).
