Title: Creaky interior?
Post by: Mr_Orange on 14 March 2011, 18:20
Right-ho..  The car has suffered from interior creaks in the back for as long as I can remember.  I'm sure I'm not alone in this....   :undecided:

So yesterday I put on my problem solving hat and went at it proper!   :nerd:

Rear seats in, rear seats out, parcel shelf out, back in again, side panels off and on, worked it out eventually after a good hour or so.

Where the interior side panels (3 door) fit onto the window edge there are 3 clips and 3 "feet" the panel rests on.  Noticed with a closer look one of these feet had left a bit of a rub mark on the bodywork metal.  Applied a smear of grease to it and TA-DA annoying creak is gone!  Now I know what it is I just got to repeat for the other side.

Sorted.  Hope this helps someone else too

Had one of those in the passenger door too and the hinges simply needed a good lube up

My dashboard used to creak like mad but when i took it apart to fit my net optic trim I found over half the screws that hold it all together were missing. Looks like some cowboy fitted my Parrot bluetooth kit for the previous owner. I have got hold of loads of Torx 20 screws since then and have sorted it all out now.

The dash is quite a fun jigsaw puzzle when you start putting it back together, i ended up with one screw left

If you mean the hinge, then spray lube into the hinge pins and apply grease onto the sprung check strap.

Don't be shy, get the lube out!

Same here, especially around where the parcel shelf is located. Its been like that since I bought the car over three years ago. Got use to it now though

I convinced myself the creaks were around the parcel shelf, but turned out to be as I described at the side trim panels.  You got a three door?

Mine has a bit of creaking at the back but not too bad.

To be fair my rear 1/4 interior panels are hanging off haha. Probably stops the creaks being so bad!

But seem to have a bit of a squeak on front passengers door now as if the plastic is squeaking a bit over bumps etc.

And the left(passenger) side of my dash cracks and creaks its nasty lol I need check it's tight.
