after seeing a set of happich pop outs on a mk2 at ultimate dubs yesterday I have decided that I really want a set of these on the mk2! now I am aware how Rare they are and I know they also go for alot of money but where's the best place to start to try and find a pair or has anyone got some they want to sell?
Cheers!!!
-
They sometimes come up on ebay or edition38 for about a million pounds.
-
I've heard of people using the hinges off a 206
-
so you want to:
A) Have a swimming pool in your car
B) Leave the keys in the car door for the thieves, saves them damaging your freshly fitted happich's
C) Pay over the odds for what are simply unsecured flaps on the back of your motor.
Well, good luck to you.

Sound advice :afro: not the best thing in the world to fit.

I absolutely cant stand happich windows.
Makes the front glass look odd as the black seal is thinner.
They rattle, they look crap imo, and comes with an edition38 price tag aka a RIP OFF!
Dont waste the money

You getting a set then?!

Gotta agree with everyone, they're the biggest waste of time imo.450- jeez man that's complete car money, or at least a full abf conversion with a few new ancillaries, and I know what would make me appreciate the golf more...

I sense I've hit a nerve

i got a fischer tape deck if you want that too? £500 then u will be scene!

I like Happich windows, properly fitted, with unstretched rubber seals, and the correct tension on the hinges, and fasteners, they should be water tight, and give no problems. At UD this weekend, I saw at least 5 cars with them fitted, 2 of those cars had them poorly fitted, and the rubber seals looked tired, and seen better days, there are plenty of other cars out there that use the same set up as the Happich kits, so finding a new rubber seal, that can be adapted to fit, really shouldn't be a problem, just requires a little detective work...
Thom

You getting a set then?!
Yes.
If I find a set cheap enough then on ED38 they go for silly money and if that fails...ebay hype
win win win
-
u do get a bargain now and again. i picked up a full set of clears last year for £180
I also fitted new Kia Sedona seals which i paid about £40 new. they don't even need cut.
-
im a big fan, but i seen a pic online last week, with the rears half open, as if they were wound half way down, or electric
-

WTF... go find that pic!
Thom

Surely that's not even possible!?
-
thats what i thought? was baffled.
-
Are we on the same page here? 3 door (only) Golf, rear side windows open outwards a few inches at the rear...
Thom
-
yeah, defiantly a 3 door, dark blue, with the rear window half wound down. i was trying to find out more about it but found nothing
-
sounds very custom, how the F would you be able to do that on a mk2 3 door??
-

link to the picture?
-
putting leccy windown in the back of a 3 door. thats an old trick now
it's not even that hard to do ether once you've got brave and done the required cutting, the hardest part of the job is getting the seals right actualy putting the leccy mechanisum in and gettign the window to go up and down is a pice of piss
-
Anyone looked at fitting the leccy pop outs that are fitted to the likes of my Audi S2 Coupe?
Rather than wind downs?

trying to find the pic again . . .
-
a guy called Recardo off the hype forum managed to convert his happich to electric.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZIW3ORa3Ys
Nice but still make the front windows seals look fatter (odd)
-
theres a kit on ebay to convert them to electric.
-

What a douche! I had a set off of him, but when all and sundry started sporting them, I flogged them without even opening the box. Turns out they were f**kced, and you need to see the actuator that he's used on his car, it's like an electric aerial motor poking out of the 'c' pillar.
-
Ohh no not good at all Lewy!
IF i did run a set i would have a black surround around the glass. Just the thinner seal makes them look well out of place
-
or just fit them as intended.. think they nice when fitted and obviously dont leak lol
-
Was bidding on these upto £400 but now they have gone mental

-
Be almost a shame to take them out of the box!
Thom
-
Yeh agreed thom,I really want em but over £400 to me is just too much money as much as I want some
-
These are never going to go cheap, do it....
EDIT, If I wanted them bad enough, I'd bid £676 and hope for the best...
Thom
-
Why the f*** would you spend over £400 on some thief-friendly 'windows'?
You can buy a complete, half reasonable GTI for less if you're lucky!
-
nah I'm done with this set, however there is another set that are not so well advertised that finish tmmorow and again never been out the box
-
£620.... I should have bid!
Thom

Not doing it for me. But then I did make the decision to be 'more practical' and get a 5 door.

 trust me neo I wish I didn't like em but the fact is I do! :embarassed: and I don't have to worry about the water leak bit as the only time it gets wet is when I wash it,it's not had a raindrop on it for the last 8 years!!
-
Why are they so freaking rare?
-
Aye, I just saw it and thought of you  They are cool if done right. Mate had a set back in the day on his old valver that he converted to electric, using bits from a 1980 Mazda 929, when did you last see one of them? Twas very swish, told him he was a flash git but is was still very cool

Reasty found a brand new set on ebay, but under a poor listing, the seller paid the price for a crap advert! only the 1 bid afaik...
Would have gone for them myself, unfortunately, they were not tinted...
Reasty, I'll buy you a goldfish for those rainy days
Thom

What did they go for in the end...
-
What did they go for in the end...
In all honesty, I cant remember  price was in Euros... and it was either Bid, or Buy it now, listing has now disappeared, and I didn't save it, certainly nothing like the £620ish that the same thing went for yesterday!
Thom
-
Not my cuppa - Just interested...
Can't believe some idiot paid £600.00+ for a set....
-
I got em for £385 including postage from Ireland, was the only bidder as said and they are brand new in the box also with replacement metal catches apparently
Thom can you make sure it's a piranha to warn off the thieves aswell!
-
If you like them then £385 is a reasonable price. However, at £600+ I reckon it would be cooler (see what I did there?) to reto-fit air con.
With so many modern cars having air-con these days, the breakers must be full of the necessary parts to cobble together a working system.
-
Still look odd no matter that the price. BTW some guy is after £160 for a set collected.
Fit them and stand back. Now notice the thin seal on the rear quater and the thicker seal on the door. Just annoys me :nerd:
-

i thought the lack of moulding lines on the corners of non-genuine bumpers annoyed you
