Title: removing breather from rocker cover
Post by: Billsride on 13 March 2011, 21:17
Hi, I have a 2.0L 8v GTI mk3 and I have alot of mayo like muck in the breather pipes (cleaned out now)
but the black round part that sits on the top of the rocker cover look quite full! and I cant see quite how to get it off!??  it looks like it just pulls up and off! but dont want to pull to hard and break it!
what do I do??  :undecided:
and dose anyone else have troubles with this blocking up with muck???

Just pulls off, if it is really blocked you would be better to replace it.

Careful when you pull it off though and when refitting it, if the seal falls inside or the bottom of the breaker brakes off then you'll have to remove cam cover.

Use carb cleaner to clean it inside

Check the rubber seal on the cam cover where it fits and make sure it is not split, not expensive if you need a new one.
