As per title, how much work would be involved to retro fit a drivers airbag to a non-airbag model? And other than a steering wheel with an airbag what else would be needed?
Cheers

LOTS! and most likely very dangerous.
MK2's crumble badly on light impact anyway

No Brainer....
All the sensors etc etc etc....

How many sensors we talking?

Quite a few... but they have to be put in the correct place or you could have a false activation...
Still a Total No Brainer... Just don't see why you want to try and fit one...

Lots also mk2's were never available with a airbag (I believe)

like the bear picture. However Mk2 golfs came with airbags in the usa on some models so the kit is there but for left hand drive so the sensors would be in a different place to be effective on UK roads

just scanned through vortex and they claim no mk2's but mk1 cabby's with airbags
