As per my other post with the timing poss being out and having had a misfire due to the HT leads not being in the right order is it advisable to drive the car? just thinking about having to get the bus to work this wk instead?
will it cause any damage to the engine?
-
Sort the HT's out man! Takes 2 minutes
-
Are the leads on correctly now? i wouldn't think it would start if they are wrong.
I wouldn't drive with any missfire, i think you may be asking for trouble!
-
yeah the car starts but it doesn't sound to healthy think im gunna have to get it to a garage to check the timing out
-
You could try setting up static timing, that would be a good start.
-
I did have a look in the maint section on how to set the timing but I don't really understand it all too well :p
-
Basically it involves lines up the cam and crank sprockets to the tdc marks, and the distributor rotor arm pointing at the notch on the body which is about no.1 spark plug lead.
That should get you going without a timing gun.
-
have you just connected the leads in the wrong order bud? why do you think the timing is now out?
-
Well I know I connected them wrong first off as when I started it there was a bit of a pop then nothing, now I've got them in the right order when you start the car it doesn't idle that well, very shaky and sounds like a tractor and if you go by the exhaust you can smell petrol I'm guessing when its not being burned, need to change out the plugs but the tool I bought is to bloody big so need to replace that for a thinner one :p, ill try and upload a video I took but my blackberry saved it in a odd format so need to get that converted
-
I would not drive it too far to be honest.
-
I'm not going to bother driving it once I get paid on friday ill take it to the garage down the road or see if some peeps near me who are more engine savy than me can have a look
-
You really are accident prone aint ya mate
-
Yeah anything I try to do just goes bloody wrong! Sods law! Learning the hard way I guess
-
