Title: Bent sill damage
Post by: iansabf on 13 March 2011, 16:55
My mates mk4 got hit in the side the other day. Its damaged both doors and bent the sill in down one side. We aren't sure if sills are repairable? We were wondering if the insurance would write it off?

Depends on the age condition of the car TBH.

But it going to cost quite a bit to put that right so i will guess it would be written off.

Mate of mine had a corsa new ish one someone hit the drivers door nothing else and the insurance wrote it off over the phone!

Didnt even send anyone to look at it

Both doors and the sill = write off tbh, sill damage will not be cheap to sort.

If its not smashed so far that its classed as unsafe the buy two second hand doors of same colour (swap the locks) and some side skirts to cover the sill.
Its the same as Corsa B's, the side skirts you can get wrapped right over the dented sill.

Just looked at yours. Thats worse than this one. How old was yours? did they give you £5k?! This is/was on 04 plate so we'll see what they say. Would be a shame if they write it off but maybe it would be better to start again.
