Cool idea but would need to shoot from the exact same spot with the same focal length etc which would be a right ball ache!

On the CC side, you hav ethe right idea I think its just a case of tweaking the levels of the highlights and mids as there is a bit of a glow going on but its all trial and error and once you do it a few times you get to know what levels to do etc :smiley:

the way I work it (after having a chat with a mate who does photography for a living and he talked me through his work process) is breaking the image down

so for instance, a layer for the hair, shirt, Tie, beard, skin and eyes

this way you can really tweak and play around with each element and not blowing other parts of the image, hope that helps and makes sense dude :smiley:

A Spoon Full of Sugar. Shot with the 50mm Prime. I had loads of ideas for a shoot tonight as I supposed to be playing Warhammer 40K with a mate. I was goign to try loads of shots with off camera flash and try and get the atmosphere of a table top battle. However when I got there this evening I felt sick as a parrot and had to bail out and come home. Therefore we have the very quick spoon full of sugar to help my medicine go down shot. Really disappointed to have missed tonight but quite pleased with the shot that I got.

Cheers bud. I just use self timer for the portraits as I don't have an IR remote, only a wired one.

thats truee although i wouldnt wnat to be carrying my 50D everywhere but the 400D does feel tiny in comparison and would be happy to take it with me, might be an idea this summer jsut to bring it along with me where ever I go

i like this photo, did you experiment with using less dof as I think the cat (back end) could be a little less fluffy, or was it a circumstance of low light conditions and having to use a wider aperture?
