Title: Juddering whilst reversing
Post by: spaced4130 on 11 March 2011, 20:55
My 99 1.8t has recently developed a very noticeable judder whilst reversing, its seems worse when I'm reversing up a slight hill too. I can notice a very slight judder when pulling away but not very noticeable when compared to when I'm reversing. The car has done 118000 and the clutch was done at 100000 so I'm hoping it not that. I did think maybe this could be caused by worn engine mounts??? I have rocked my engine back and forth and it does seem to have rather a lot of play in the engine mount on the passenger side but I don't know how much it is meant to move and have nothing to compare it too.

Has anybody experienced symptoms like this before, does it sound like engine mounts could be causing this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

James
