OK there's been a few posts on the RNS510 sound quality but feedback from users is mixed - some say good - some say poor
So looks aside, I thought I'd try and be a little bit more scientific about this and gauge feedback from users.
When you vote can you also post about the specific points you like/dislike about the unit and try and give a flavour as to why you have voted as you have.
OK - Get voting!!

I've had 2 different RNS510's and both just sound as good as the RCD510 it replaced. Not any worse or any better. Not sure where that would go on your poll?
Sound is so subjective that what is fantastic for one person might be mediocre for another and vice versa!!
Have a listen and see if its acceptable for yourself.
Also remember if you find the sound poorer, is it worth the compromise for having SAT NAV, Hard Drive and DVD player in one?

As I've said before I've no issues with mine the sound quality is no different to me than on my factory specced RCD510. Perhaps I have c**p ears  But I do also have the dynaudio which could I suppose make a considerable difference.
Anyway whatever I am more than happy and it is such an easy to use piece of kit and looks great.

OK for factory unit with standard speakers is how I voted, mine sounds much better with the fader to full front, I think the problems in my sytem lay in the speakers rather than the unit - I'll change 'em when I get five and throw a self powered bazooka tube in the boot that I have hiding in my garage somewhere

The sound from the RCD/RNS510 power amplifiers remind me of what one heard from germanium transistor amplifiers before the advent of silicon ones. Pretty awful.
The standard loudspeakers do an excellent job with the RCD310.
I would, from what I have heard and if sound quality is paramount, never recommend these units without the assistance of separate amplification.
Even with the help of a better amplifier, installing a sub-woofer does improve the musicality of the system.

^ Is there any photos of your sub install about anywere as it would make a good reference post to point others too.

Snoops:
I'll try and take some pictures tomorrow. It is a bit difficult due to it being quite nicely pushed under the passenger seat. I'll also take a picture of the amplifier under the driver's seat.
Did try before but the pictures were awful. :embarassed:
PS: Tried once again to take pictures today and failed miserably. Another attempt tomorrow. :embarassed:
