Title: My Golf Mk3. My 1st Car Project **FOR SALE**
Post by: OwenD.mk3 on 09 March 2011, 17:27
Im new to the forum and i am 17, And this is my 1.4 Golf Mk3. This was the 1st day i had it, after it was standing in the same place for 2 years after my mum left it hear after she got her new car. Its a 97 plate and it has only dun 84,000 miles so i thought it would be a good fun project for my 1st car

After an hour of trying to get it up and running, it started after 2 years of going nowhere

Sanding down the steal wheels to spray black.

Not to bad for my 1st go.

Gave it a wash and put all the wheels back on.

Started on charging the batery fully, and trying to get the bodywork back to its original color using t-cut.
And get all the missing body parts,

Got a debadge grill, and sprayd it. But then i realised that the color was diferent. So i will re do it in the futere.

It dont look to bad from far, just when you proper look at it you can tell its abit lighter. Also you can see the lacquer coming off the bonet.

I concur, the rear might be something like 55mm or so but the front is definitely lower than that.

I think JOM coilovers are shorter than standard shocks int he first place so he's probably closer to a 70->80mm drop. Looks a lot better after a good clean  Remember to get the alignment done to get the camber sorted :afro:

looks good dude, but IMO get rid of the camber in the front there's no need for that until you try running wheels that are too wide.

+1 on that. Does look good though mate!  Its nice to see a 17 year old taking pride in their motor instead of runnin round nicking bits off everyone else's!!

i have never seen the same colour mk3 as mine before! is it a rare colour!? haven't put the back box on, i have got my standard one on, i couldn't be dealing with the noise, unless i was in like a gti or a vr6!

I don't think it is particularly rare, it was just never done on any of the GTi or VR6 models I don't think :) I have left my original back box as well. I don't see the point in upgrading stuff like that unless you have a GTi or VR6 either!

Congratulations on passing that test!

Car looks good for your first project, I think you have done really well.  Mine is down 80mm at the front and your arch gap looks pretty similar.  what are your next plans?
