Ive worked out where my redline is on my Mk2 1.6 Driver, It sits around 6,000RPM, However ive not taken it past that and im just wondering if theres a rev limiter. If i floored the revs would they start to bounce, Or will i just end up watching my pistons fly through the bonnet?

No body knows? urm...Well can somebody with a old wrecked VW go stomp on the accelerator and see if the revs bounce / engine blows up?? PWEEEEEEEEESE!
-
Oh...Looks lilke nobody wants to help me :( Ahhh well, Ill just talk to my self instead.
Hey fielder, Hows it going?
Very Well thanks fielder, You?
Ahh yeah its going ok, What about that redline?
-
you do have a rev limiter its built into the distributor i think, the revs will sit at whatever the maximum is for as long as you dare hold it, they will fluctuate about a bit tho

Wheres the redline on a 16v?
-
just over 7000 rpm i think
-
on a 16v its 7200rpm but you really never need to go there. max torque is at 4.5k and max power at 6k. so upchanges at about 6.5k has you sittin perfectly for the next cog selected!!
-
& yes fielder your rev limiter is built into the dizzy
-
^^ thanks, Wont need the info for much longer tho, Now im dumping a new motor in there ;)
-
What you putting in there?
Im doing the same thing at the mo.
