It seems my 10 month old set of Weitec Hicon GTNs have succumb to the elements  I reckon road salt has started the corrosion process, even though the car was rarely used during the winter! Im not sure if the adjuster rings are seized, didnt have time to check today...
Once i clean the threads up and loosen up the adjuster rings (with WD40?), do i coat them with waxoyl or chain lube/white spray grease?
Also they came with no C spanner, could i use some large grips as an suitable replacement?
-
I always use waxoil, seems to stay on and protect.

You can buy them spanners off ebay to adjust coil overs...
If you coat the shocks with wax oyl then i think ull have problems adjusting them in a few months time, waxoyl will just stick the threads up...
I coated my coil overs with grease, rubbed it all over threads n stuff...
-
well im not happy with the height, but once its set to my liking its staying there. so it may never be adjusted again.
i assume waxoyl dries clear(ish)? if it gums the threads up is it a ball-ache to remove or will engine degreaser take care of that?

Engine degreaser will get it off all ok if needed.

Wrap em with some thin plastic, then cable ties to hold it on

Get a hand full of grease and smear it up the threads nice and thick... You wont see it with wheels on and lowered, if it needs to come off get a cloth and wipe it, its water proof so will protect..
No way would i spray way oyl over my coil overs, had mine for over a year now and no signs of rust...
-
don't have coilovers  simpel it not like any of you ever manage to adjust them

It is the best thing you can use, really protects the threads.

waxoil, grease,
think waxoil is the tidyer solution and better to work with proaly longer lasting.
there both easyer to clean off but i should imagin waxoil been somewhat less messy. id use something diffrent BTP it's actualy attery terminal protector it comes out the can like bubbely green snot and just hangs on what ever you spray it on. just easyer to remove than underseal

cheers guys, found my c-spanner at last :lipsrsealed: so can get cleaning, adjusting and protecting just as soon as i've polished my wheels up
