Title: GTI PX Value
Post by: Das Auto on 08 March 2011, 16:33
Just wanted your thoughts on Audi's PX price for my car:

59 Plate GTI
34000 miles
Candy White
DSG
18" Monzas
RCD 510
Bluetooth

They have offered me £17,500 ????

I'd say that's not far off what it should be, the mileage is quite high and they will mark up £1,500 or so and sell it about £20k(ish)

If this is their first offer then there will be a little more negotiation but that depends on what you are getting next?

As a slight aside, one GTD I looked at when buying was at the VW main dealer but they had just bought it "at top book" from the Audi dealership down the road (same dealer group)

Audi's policy is to not have any non-Audi cars on their forecourt so they will move it on - that'll be in the price too!

Quick check of Glass's guide gives me circa £18200 (5 door is only worth another 100 notes) for that car assuming it's a 3 door in excellent condition. So room for a bit of negotiation, especially if you're taking finance on the car you'd be buying from Audi.

And Buck is correct, they will just punt it on. However there will be trade contacts and underwriters in the area that will make sure they won't lose any money on the deal, going on the desireability of the GTI, they'll get local specialists and sports car dealerships to bid on it as well as main dealers.
