As per title, looking for a cambelt kit, VW want £74.51
I got the part number 037 198 119 and wacked it into google which came up with this (http://www.germanautopartsdirect.co.uk/FEBI-BILSTEIN/c544/p972/TIMING-BELT-KIT/product_info.html?osCsid=9udgt46gsh8b0162temquceut6) website. It has no pictures of the kit, but the same part number, with a few more digits in brackets at the end, and is only £12.09 :undecided:
What are people's thoughts on this? The kit is £33.00 on the ECP website :undecided:

Would you trust a bit of £12 gear to keep your engine in time and to take the stress's it needs to at 6000RPM?
Go to gsf and get a decent one
-
Nope buy the ECP one still cheaper than a replacment engine
-
the number at the end is the aftermarket kit part number, so its not genuine
-
Confirmed what I thought, cheers guys :afro:
On a seperate note what is the capacity of the brake fluid on the mk3?

So gsf ones are ok? I've got one from there with adjuster and stud, not fitted yet cos wanted to check they are ok?

Yep fine  I still prefer genuine myself however.

When genuine is £74.51 and ECP is £33 i'll go with ECP every time.

Respect that, I just believe it is not something to save money on, I know that some items from ecp or gsf are oe suppliers but have always stuck to genuine.

Always by genuine or equivalent.
Its not worth the saving.
-
Genuine from TPS I got belt, tensioner, stud, nut etc for about £50
Work discount ftw
-
go buy a gates from your local motor factor.......half the price of vw so why buy genuine? vw buy them from a variety of suppliers so is genuine any different to any known brand?
(can I ask does anyone here buy beru ignition parts from ecp? they are one's of vw's largest o.e supplier)
-
I've bought beru but from GSF. Cap and rotor arm.

I would of gone to vw myself :lipsrsealed:
can I ask did they fall apart when you touched them or have they failed yet or are they identical to vw o.e stuff?
I worked in the main dealer and aftermarket area's for a few years and I still can't understand why people still prefer dealer parts........Last time It was a main bosch agent and the local vw place even bought parts from us! (and sold them on for a good profit margin too!)

That is different buying Beru from ecp is fine as is Bosch from a Bosch agent.
