Title: Car Alarm
Post by: gtd2010 on 08 March 2011, 10:21

This may sound a bit silly to some but i'll ask anyway

I ordered my car with a car alarm but with a bit of playing around I havent managed to set it off to make sure it is working properly, so my question is: How might I set of my car alarm just to make sure it is woking properly?

Thanks in advance

Leave the window open, set the alarm then put your arm through the window 30 seconds later.

I thought the alarm came as bog standard?

Really? How can a 20k+ car not come with an alarm. I thought ALL cars came with an alarm and that alarms where as standard as seats. Blimey.

Is the alarm set as soon as the car is locked?

No, the entire system takes between 30-50 secs to be fully armed.

So bascially all i do is lock my car with the key fob and wait 1 minute and the alarm should be set?

Yes, wait a minute then wave your hand about inside via the window you left open. It has sensors inside the car so when you wave your hand it thinks someone is inside your car and set the alarm off.
