if you buy an MFD2 it's easy - plug and play -not sure about the later system
i've only done the conversion with MFD2
see here for info - same system but skoda variant

Thanks sprout99, if anyone else has any input please do so

You will also need a GPS antenna which will more than likely come with the unit. A little coding may also be required.
Depending on the age of your car, you may also need to upgrade the CAN gateway to avoid the battery drain.

Or as an alternative if you have a tomtom you can easily hardwire it into the fuse box, have just done on that on my Edition30.

Thanks guys

Got this in my ED 30. Great bit of kit. http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/productimages/zoom/AVIC_F920BT.jpg

I got the RNS 510 LED version C fitted in my GTI. Its a brilliant piece of kit :afro:
I also needed to upgrade the CANBUS, mine was a version K and you need version L or later to avoid the battery drain issue.
What year is your ED 30?
Usually mid 2007 or later is fine.
You will also need some coding done on VCDS.
