I was visiting the local dealer for new wiper blades and got talking to the parts guy about the RCD510 which I thinks a top bit of kit. However he said there's a new version out soon, anyone else picked up if that's correct?

Shame that the images show the old (fw7xxx) boot screen, otherwise I might have got excited! I don't know if the RCD510 / RNS510 (aka MFD3) came out alongside the mk6 - if they did, then I doubt there would be a new model until the mk7 comes out.
Unless the system is going to be connected to the web (3G, etc.), I think the current hardware can keep going for a bit longer yet.

Sorry to go off topic but are there any head units out there that can connect to the web?
I've thought for years that would be a great idea or at least build wifi in where you can download all your home music on your own network. Or join the free wifi spots around the country.

Saab's new system, for one: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-20039104-48.html
It will come. How much benefit it has over the current systems, I don't know. I don't often have the need to know the nearest place selling razors, but some people might need that?
For me, an RNS system that is able to guide me from A to B, beep when I am approaching a "safety zone" and play my tunes is all I need.

You mean that being offered a cut price Russian bride whilst stuck on the M4 wouldn't be of any benefit?

I suppose it could be useful to confirm my online banking details with Nigeria or reply to this forum while at the lights! ;)

A beep when approaching a "safety zone" would at least bring it up level with every bog standard Sat Nav system out there but it doesn't even posses this system or am I missing something?!

I know the one in the new A8 does - and it offers Sat Nav using Google Maps too!
