i may well be over analysing here.. but a couple weeks ago while out of town i noticed that after turning the engine over my coolant gauge takes a while to move up to the 90 degree mark (where i always remember it being if the engine is running)? and its a similar thing with the MFA reading which shows? - - until the other gauge moves.
lately it has been taking about 5/10 mins of driving to get there... i always thought it went to 90 once u turned the engine over (i know it seems silly for it to rise so fast... )
i did find a post elsewhere that says this is normal... but in having the car 18 months now i thought i'd have noticed this lag before now?!

it takes a good while to get to 90 in these cold conditions. The MFA guage is oil temp - which also takes a long time to warm up - and doesn't show a reading till its reaches a certain temp.
So your car is perfectly normal
-
i've had mine three years , it usually takes around 2-3 miles for the coolant temp guage to reach 90 and the oil temp guage in the mfa doesn't start reading until at least after 1 mile

sounds about right to me seer

hmm.. well since this post...
i've noticed that yes it behaves this way on a cold start.. but on a warm start the needle rises instantly.
-
Mine rises dependant on the ambioent temperature. As said above, on a warm start it goes up instantly, on a very cold start it takes 2-3 miles.

my MFA starts at 75
