anyone know what i would need to do to get the engine 'uncapped' and back to its original 170bhp?
-
nice one overseer, there is always so little info on abf engine, nice find
-
170bhp !!!
How do we get that extra 20bhp back ?
-
chip

Great find. I've always know about the 'downgrade' of BHP for the 16v, but have only just got myself my 1st VW 'runaround', after owning all sorts of Fords, Vauxhalls, Scoobies, etc.
If standard BHP is 170, then surely it can be upped from 150 to about 180+ though!
Where can I get a decent chip? I've been lookin in all the mags for the last two weeks to get one.
-
If it's just a case of a new chip then it may be worth speaking to AMD in Bicester. They seem to be the dons when it comes to ecu upgrades on VW's.
Their website is : www.auto-amd.com/index.asp

Yes, i've spoken to them and am just saving for it!
£350+VAT
...thats roller time too with print outs
-
cool.. it would be real nice if you can get scans of before and after up to show the increases and general behaviour of the ABF.. its hard to find this kind of stuff!

The emai from AMD:
Hi,
We offer a rolling road remap for the 16 valve engine that will set up
fuel, ignition and timing etc. This takes about 4-5 hours to do here on
the dyno and will give better throttle response, smother power delivery
and up to +12-15bhp and +10-12lbs of torque. The cost for this set up is
£350+VAT fitted including rolling road time with before and after print
outs.
I hope this is of help to you, please let me know if i can help answer
any questions you might have.
Best regards,
Ed Jackson
