Say, change gear around 3k?

Town driving? Motorway driving? Short journeys? Long journeys?

It depends on driving style. How often do you floor it even up until 3k, do you coast when you can? Has it been serviced recently? What's the weather like? Do you drive on a motorway or around town?

Anything between 30-40 is reasonable for the 2l 8v. I once got 43mpg out of my old 8v but that was on the motorway and sticking to 70mph.

Around town around 32-34 is reasonable and on an open road then 34-40. That's all driving sensibly, stick your foot down on an open road and expect low 30's/high 20s.

Keep dreaming. Do the ACTUAL MPG calculation rather than what the MFA shows, as the MFA is very inaccurate.

+1, that is complete balls!

On a real economy run i've managed just over 40mpg (worked out on paper), around town i'll see about 25mpg and the average mixed driving run i'll see about 33-35mpg

I only hit around 23mpg, with nearly all my miles being town driving

I think my thermostat is stuck open tho, as the tamp gauge normally sits just above the needle stop and only gets up to around the 70/80 mark if left ticking over for a while, i have changed the temp sensor already and it's made no difference and some times it can be hard to start once warm as if the choke is still on

When i get chance i will have to investigate
