Title: Control Module - LED Rears

Hi all, I want to fit LED rear light to my GTI but have found out (Thanks SteveP) that my electronics control module does not support LED rears  :cry:


Can anyone tell me what module does, a part number would be a start, a part number and a price would be great, a second-hand one for free would be even better  :wink:

I will have hopefully have a spare one once I fit my Xenons in a couple of weeks, it supports the rear LEDs as I am running them at the moment.
It does not support front Xenon lights, only Halogen.

I was going to put it on Ebay to see what I could get for it. I think brand new they are about £200

To know for sure you need a VCDS scan if your car is an early 09 plate then it's likely that the module won't support LED rears.

I think so mate but only one way to know for sure is with the scan.

Just to play devil's advocate, and I am a fine one to talk, I hope all this retro-fitting does not negate price savings you made on the original cost of buying your cars. Fun though. :wink:

My car was delivered on 26th July 2009, just two months from order.

August 2010 and my LED rears were fitted along with my other retro fit, there were and have been no bulb out warnings since then, so if my car is ok then yours should be fine too.

Hope that helps, the LED rears look really great, not like those nasty Audi esque things they are putting in the front of the Golfs these days  :sick:

SteveP scanned my module and it deffo doesnt support LED rears.  My GTI is May 2009 so a very early car.  I'm pretty close to obtaining a second hand one  :grin:
