easy enough - can recommend a set of "crowsfeet" socket ends, and GSF for the part.

if i had a air leak on intake could vagcom be giving me a false code?

yup - check for airleaks first.  Worth checking changing plugs & wires possibly too - bad ignition will also throw it off.  Air filter might be worth changing too...

the strange thing is that a few weeks before it starting running like a dog,i could here a loud air sucking noise but cant find anything leaking...so i hope its lamdba as it just cost me 39 quid.....

induction noise?  Check that the airbox lid is correctly seated.  won't cause lamda issues though.

disconnect the plug to the lambda sensor, does it run ok? if not, the problem is elsewhere. if it does run better then either the new lambda is faulty or the wiring is shot.

have you cleared the codes then checked to see what comes back. look in the ecu measuring blocks too then you can see what the ecu thinks the coolant and inlet temps are, as well as read the throttle position to make sure thats ok as well.

well - couldn't see a code for 520 or 523 but

515 is listed as "00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40): No Signal"
537 is listed as "00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation: Upper Limit"

can do.  Try with it unplugged?  (though mine cuts out at idle when driving when I did that test)

just cuts out if you pull maf plug out? 00520 is maf,00523 is air intake i think! i googled the codes

it should run ok with the maf disconnected, if not check for vac leaks and make sure the throttle body is spotlessly clean. you may have to re-adapt the throttle body too, though with a dodgy maf this might not work?

ok! i cleaned my throttle body and still the same, lots of popping in exhaust and hunting..keep getting fault code for hall sensor so replaced complete dizzy and still the same, and still same code.cleared codes and now ive got lamdba sensor fault code again.so starting to think its not a sensor problem or electrical...could a blocked injector throw up a missmatch of codes..this driving me round the bend :undecided:
