Hi Guys
My 05 plate GTI was running really quick but now seems to have lost a little power & also the revs seem to be sticking on when i boot it.
It just feels like its holding back on power where as before it was rapid right through the revs....Any ideas what area i need to be looking at?
Cheers

Diverter valve may have a small tear...

1st point of call would be the Diverter Valve (DV). Do you have a stock DV? If so they are prone to tearing and the upgrade path is to the revision D type, which is a piston DV rather than a diaphragm DV

Beat me to it whilst typing! LOL.

Like the other guys said, diverter valve. I had an 05 GTi and the same thing happened. 2005 GTi's have the B version diverter valve which is weak, particularly after a remap. It is also known as a cut off valve. When I went to my VW dealership they didn't know what a diverter valve was! I should have the part number somewhere if you need it.

I was thinking air-flow,Thing is there is no fault light on,But now im glad i asked.....If you can dig out a part number that would be great...Any idea of cost?

The part number is 06f 145 710 g. The G refers to the version. Your part number will be 06f 145 710 b. There may be a newer version now as I bought mine in 2008. It cost me £35. You will need to take it to a mechanic to replace it unless you are handy yourself.

It's a little valve to get rid of unwanted air from the turbo, usually when you change up a gear. If it's ripped then the nice high airflow from the spinning turbo will be wasted. Those early ones seem as strong a wet paper bag.

Im feeling lost of power too, i put my foot down and nothing happens like before...
How do i check to see if its the DV thats got a rip/gone?
My 07 gti is a wald remap, after getting it serviced by VW (Jan) it feels slower, would they have reset it or something?
