I have been thinking recently (dangerous I know) about messing with the interior of my Rallye. There are 2 reasons for this. Firstly, although the seats look good, they do not hold you in place very well when driving, um, enthusiastically. Secondly, less weight equals better acceleration. So, I am thinking of removing the front and rear seats, plus I guess ditching the heavy stereo gear. In it's place, a couple of lightweight seats such as Cobra Imola's:

What are your thoughts? Is it wrong to mess with a Rallye interior? Will I regret it??
-
if you take out your original inerior, keep it!! then if you do change your mind you wont have to hunt high and low for a replacement. but if your going for low weight then definately ditch the ICE. may take some getting used to with little speakers but what you lose in one hand you gain in another!!
those corbras look nice, a friend had some corbeau something or others in his mid engined vr6 turboed rallye and they suited it down to the ground! they were fairly similar to those ones above but a bit more 'motorsport'
-
actually they were these: http://www.corbeau-seats.co.uk/Corbeau%20Sport%20Revolution.htm
revolutions, much more full on than those imolas!
-
When driving um, enthusiastically as you put, is it the kind where when you rag it round a corner hard, no matter how hard you tense a butt cheek, you still slide???
But keep the seats and ditch the massive amount of ICE just have a decent set of components in the front and your laughing! and clear all the un-needed crap from the car i.e. maccy d's wrappers etc. . .
-
Go for it, but as joe says keep everything stored for when (not if  ) you change your mind or sell it
-
^^ word topher!

Typical of the rallye half-leathers.. your bum grips until it hits the leather.. then you've got your face against the window :undecided:
-
^^ ha ha try it with full leather!!! nightmare but looks/smells so good!
-

lol ?
Yeah, will keep the original seats if I do get new ones.
Got to do something to try and beat mr 65mm pulley above at Santa Pod ?
-
^^ talk to my mate john mitchel he'll be able to get a few more ponies out of it!! check out the corrado forum for testament to his work
-
if your looking to beat someone, then why not create a special from something more ordinary than a Rallye?
-
just joking with toph
no plan to spend major money on the rallye or any other project right now...
-
Im going to do badly on the strip on purpose this year anyway, to give me more motivation for the winter project  (thats my excuse and im sticking to it.)
-
Go 4 it JV
I know someone that put lotus Elise seats in their Rallye to make it lighter, as the saying goes every little helps
-
I'm not sure jv. I'm trying to imagine them in the car to see what they look like. Why not vmod it and see what it looks like and then let us make comments on a pic ? :undecided: Hmmmmm.....................still undecided. :undecided: I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure !
-
Go for it, just keep your hands off my scoob seats, cheeky
-
id say go for it also, and yes keep the originals tucked away!
ditch the ICE also. just listen to the whine of the supercharger!
-
i bought a imola 2 , super comfy , currently use it as an arm chair  as for lightening the car ive got a couple of ideas , just take another peek at my golf
-
DO IT! DOOOO IT! :)
-

-
I would keep it as it is I think it looks nice as it is.
