Hi all was the 8v and the 16v gear box the same????? :nerd: and what are the sighns of a worn gear linkage????
-
Nope, 8v is an 020 box with cable clutch whereas 16v is an 02a box with a hydraulic clutch
-
And 020 has rod changer and smaller clutch and 02A has cable change and a larger clutch.
-
I didnt think the gear change felt the same as my 8v, cheers for that chaps the reason im asking is because im strugling getting 1st some times if i go into 2nd and then 1st it goes straight in, just hoping its not the syncro. The gear change just seems really light if that makes any sense, its like its not connected to nowt???? Any ideas????

Generally low oil pressure. If you have changed the oil and the filter and the oil level is correct it is generally valves inside the gearbox failing. It was pretty much thr death of my dads gearbox, same car
Advice is to hold the brakes on until you can tell it is in gear, the revs drop, then accelerate but it's prolonging the inevitable. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but its a gearbox off job and eother a speciallist repair or a new or s/h box job.
Double check the oil first though.
