Title: VW Golf 1.9TDI 2008 - knocking noise from rear
Post by: foggyboy27 on 25 February 2011, 20:44
Hi

I hope someone can help.

I have a knocking noise coming from the rear. Emptied boot, spare wheel +tools still going it. It gets faster with speed and sounds as if someone is inside the boot knocking to get out. No noise when going over speedbumps but over 50mph is constant. Under 30mph it is completely random and 30-50mph nothing at all.

Its worse when I turn right and more noticeable when in a lower gear. Steering ok and no shudder. Exhaust sounds ok and doesn't appear to be loose. I've googled and its classed as everything from shocks, suspension arm and bushes.

Still under warranty - will this be covered?

Thanks in advance.

If it's more apparent when turning then a CV joint is more likely.
