Title: Head reconditioning
Post by: Dave_IOW on 25 February 2011, 20:16
My cambelt snapped, bent valves in atleast 2 cylinders.

Was going to go for 2nd hand head but just seen this, what you guys think?

i've bought reconditioned heads of ebay before  7 in total  and 3 of them have only been fit for scrap,  3 of them were servicable but blatanltly had only been cleaned and damaged valves replaced not reconditioned as all the valve guides were worn. only one of them had someone done a proper job on it and actualy changed the lifters valve guides and re cut and ground the seats

What did you end up doing mate?

I'm in the same boat, although I need all 20 valves done.  Just got a quote from a local firm for £600...

Looking for slightly cheaper alternatives and had noticed that add on ebay too.

just buy some valves and lifters yourself and grind them in not hard
