Im not to sure about the dizzy side of thing as the 1.6 has a dizzy with points and the 1.8 gti has a electric dizzy . so how do i go about putting the engine in will ?????????

1.do i just run a wire from the coil to the gti dizzy and then earth that??????
2.or do i take the dizzy from the 1.6 and use it on the gti engine????

use a 1.8 k-jet gti dizzy as well as carb/k-jet tci/coil/dizzy wiring loom.

must be a pretty old 1.6 if its on points, are you sure it is?

yup that'll be old enough :)

so yeah, you want a k-jet 8v dizzy, and the wiring loom from tci->dizzy->coil from carb/kjet 8v. also need the coil, tci plus the dizzy cap, arm and leads too as they differ. can use a 1.6/1.8 carb dizzy at a push, but the k-jet one is better matched to the gti lump obviously.

one last thing, the points coil has a resistor wire, this needs to be removed and replaced with a normal wire, plus there is a wire from the starter to the coil which needs to be removed
