I now have another oil leak on my gearbox, does anyone have any ideas why i could have gone through 2 boxes in 2 months? Also i have a knocking noise coming from the NSF of the car, it knocks when pulling away, then when braking you can hear a sound like metal creaking (if that makes any sense) I have changed the lower arms and ball joints so cant be them, and also just fitted a new set of coilovers and that didnt sort it either. Does anyone have any idea about that?
Oh and when i jacked the car up the other day on the jacking point it decided to give way due to being rotten, is this going to effect my MOT?
Thanks in advance guys.

Sounds like your CV joint is dry/about to fail.
Is the oil leak falling ON your gearbox? Or is oil Leaking FROM your gearbox?

The jacking point I believe will fail the mot.

Jacking point - if its got a big hole then yes it will fail. If like mine its just been bent back up (the flange thing) and dented then you will get away with an advisory. Like I have for the last 2 years!
Just depends how bad it is.

So how do i check to see if it is the cv joint, and also how can i repair the hole where my jacking point was?

Get the wheel off the ground. Have a look at the CV boot to see if it is intact.
CV joints will make hell of a noise if they are dry/have little grease in them. Move the wheel in a full arc - lock to lock - and have a listen/feel for vibration.
Whilst your there, check for lateral and vertical play in the wheel - this may signify wheel bearing issues if movement is present.
If there is lots of noise from the CV joint and the boot is intact, then you need to get it off to inspect the joint.
One you have done the above, report back.

no play in the wheel, cv boot looks ok, no knocking noise when spinnin wheel. puzzled!
