Title: head unit replacement

ok well im thinking of changing my headunit from standard to a double din one, at the mo i have a gamma tape player, preset equalizer thingy up front and a 6 disc changer and amp in the boot, all vw eqiupment, what is needed to fit the double din? does the amp stay in,i no the front 2 come out and the changer but is it a case of just unplug and plug in new

i wouldnt use one of them, go with a brand name.

youll need the proper wiring adaptor for the premium system but other than that its a straight swap, pull the stereo, eq and support tray out and drop new stereo in

f**k that 54 quid delivery  :shocked: same as above tho mate i wouldnt spent that kinda money unless it was sony, alpine etc

+1, can get alot better quality for less. dont get cheep ebay ones

solved! ok for all those(if any) that have the dsp equiped cars i.e amp, changer in boot and gamma and equaliser with the wiring loom fully intergrated into the cars loom, i have the solution to fit aftermarket stereo in so pm me if you need to no the wiring !!

I bought a blaupunkt dab headunit so it was a straight swap and the oem changer etc still fits in and works so well with the oem speakers as it was made for them.

Hats off for re wiring it though  :grin:

cant take the credit tho, chris from mkiv forum did it for me, hes a auto electrician, based in crawley, this dsp system is great until you want to uprgrade  :rolleyes:

I think i've got the same setup in my 1999 1.8T, So is the gamma an actual upgrade from standard on 1.8t? or just the standard fitment to all 1.8T's?
I wanted just get one of those single load CD players (genuine VW) of ebay,Was hoping it was just plug and play.
